ICCA Malaysia Continues to Flourish, Growing to 17 Members
In the past year, ICCA Malaysia has been ramping up its efforts to develop the business events industry in Malaysia. The Sabah Charter drawn up during the ICCA Malaysia meeting in Dec 2017 put into motion five key action plans for 2018.
Following a successful social media advocacy campaign in 2017 in conjunction with the Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), and the resolution to further the GMID campaign made at the Sabah Charter, ICCA Malaysia. This was one of the five key action plans.
“ICCA Malaysia will continue to actively participate in the annual Global Meetings Industry Day to raise awareness of the benefits of business events within the country, and to raise the profile of Malaysia among the international business events community,” said Ms. Ho Yoke Ping, General Manager Business Events, MyCEB and Chair of ICCA Malaysia Committee.
To advocate the GMID message of Meetings Mean Business, ICCA Malaysia will be crafting its campaign around the slogan Konvensyen Pemangkin Ekonomi. The campaign aims to engage the business events industry stakeholders, including the government, associations, future leaders, lecturers, students, and the community.
Business events is a key contributor to the Malaysian economy and contributes towards building a knowledge and creative economy. In 2017, Malaysia hosted 287 international business events and contributed an estimated economic impact of RM1.4 billion (USD372 million) to the country.
The 17 members of ICCA Malaysia and their respective industry partners will engage with the online business events community in the days leading to and after GMID, which falls on April 12, 2018.
